Photo Galleries Disabled

I'm sorry to announce that we had to turn off the photo galleries section of the Community Site. The decison was made due to the lack of control we have over the comments that are posted. This led to thousands of spam comments containing content we really didn't want to have on our site.

In the future I suggest you use Flickr to post your photos. It's a terrific, and free, site that's built to handle photo sharing and commenting.

We recently had an opportunity to do an interview with Bill and Ed of StudioLighting.net, a great resource for studio lighting information, product reviews, tips and all kinds of interesting stuff. Look for us in their podcast interviews section, alongside other terrific photographers including Gray Scott. (I also spoke recently with a makeup artist who worked on many of his shoots- she's amazing too!)

To all of our new members who may have found this forum because of StudioLighting.net, welcome! Feel free to use the forums to ask questions, ask for critiques, whatever. We're happy to have you all with us.

Today is 7/7/07 and there are probably lots of you who, like us, are shooting weddings today. If that's you, show us what you got! New Workshops Available

New workshop Feb 16-18

We’ve had a lot of requests at the studio for a weekend photo workshop. People love our 8 week photography course but some people aren’t able to attend because of work schedules, travel, taking care of kids, etc. So we created a weekend version of the workshop.

The workshop is different than our 8 week course in that it has a lot more hands on exercises and is accelerated. Everything happens over the weekend.

Based on our eight week course, Digital Photography 101, this workshop will give you a solid foundation for creating quality photographs.

You’ll learn the “math” of photography: ISO, aperture, shutter speed, resolution, pixels, etc. You’ll also learn the “art” of photography: Elements of composition, framing and cropping, point of view, motion, panning, cropping, and more.

The workshop meets Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday. The workshop features plenty of hands on exercises throughout. Students will have plenty of time to ask questions and get personal assistance. The Saturday session features class outings to Tempe Town Lake and Mill Avenue.

Photoshop classes anyone?

We've been hearing a lot of requests for Photoshop classes. We'd love to jump in and start offering the courses for you right away, but reality is keeping us from doing that. The investment on our part would be pretty substantial. We'd need a new video projector, an upgrade to our studio computer, software licenses, etc.

If we believe we'll have enough participation we'll do it. So who's up for a few weeks of Photoshop? Are you interested? The course will cost about $300 for a 5 week session.

If you're up for the classes please send us an e-mail or create a post on the site so we know about you. If we get enough interest we'll put things in motion!

Until that time you may want to check out NAPP. It's a great Photoshop resource.

Photoblogs!

For those of you who are not aware, a photoblog is a great way to have an immediate outlet for your work, and also a good way to keep motivated to shoot as much as possible.

My photoblog is a free one, hosted on blogger. They're totally simple to set up, and you can choose from lots of cool designs- already created for you. I also have links to some students' blogs. It's really fun to keep up on what everyone is doing these days. If you decide to start a blog, keep us posted!
